The charity MS Research raises money to fund a range of research projects to address or alleviate the problems faced by those living with MS face every day. While it can be difficult to publish details about research projects before they come to their conclusion, especially if post graduate students are involved, a brief outline of some ongoing and completed projects can be found here.
We aim to fund any research that will progress improved treatment or further our understanding of MS. This includes occasionally providing new research equipment or testing new procedures. In 2018 this included assisting the purchase of a new head and neck MRI coil for imaging studies of the brain stem and upper spinal cord.We also supported some additional work on a stem cell study that aims to gain a better understanding of the functional capability of stem cells from people with MS compared with non-MS donors. Under our theme of difficult to treat symptoms studies on MS related tremor were completed and new equipment is now in use to help us better understand MS tremor.
