About ms research

MS Research Treatment and Education (MSRTE) is a charity dedicated to furthering our understanding of MS and developing better treatments through research and education with the hope of one day finding a cure.

MS Research also funds a number of treatment programmes including FACETS (Fatigue: Applying Cognitive behavioural and Energy effectiveness Techniques to life Style) and Bladder and Bowel courses in Bristol and the South West. In addition to this we also run a monthly Movement Disorder Clinic which allows people with MS who are experiencing upper body tremor the opportunity to try out tools which may help reduce the issues that arise from this less common symptom.

Our Aims

At MS Research we have three main aims:
  • Listen to people with MS and those who share their lives
  • Learn more about the problems they face everyday
  • Act to alleviate those problems

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a progressive condition which causes nerve damage in the brain resulting in varying levels of lifelong disability, each year thousands are diagnosed with MS, this condition does not discriminate – men, women and children of all ages and ethnicity can be affected. In the UK MS is one of the most common causes of disability affecting young people.

We believe research is vital in order to:

  • find better answers to the problems those who have MS and those close to them face every day
  • maximise vital opportunities to bring us closer to an eventual cure
  • help to overcome the inadequacies and inequalities of treatment
  • further our understanding of MS and its impact.
